Why Do People Love The NRS So Much?
I was sitting back in my chair this weekend lost in my thoughts in a quiet moment. I was amazed and delighted at how much people love the NRS guitar. I searched for an answer and tried to put a finger on why people loved The NRS guitar so much? To satisfy my curiosity I walked over to my Ameritage case and opened up my NRS Koa top, my favorite NRS so far. That's when it hit me... The case was sturdy, well built and elegant. Just the case alone tells you that there is a quality instrument hidden inside. When I unlatched the latches I opened the case looking at it as it was my first time seeing the NRS and I was taken back at how beautiful the guitar was. The flames in the golden Koa and the beautiful curly maple binding was striking to look at against the black crushed velvet on the inside of the case. The birds eye maple fret board with the bright blue and green abalone fret markers really jumped out at me. I thought, this must be an exhilarating feeling for my customers to be looking at such a beautiful guitar for the first time when they open their new cases.
I continued to act as if this was my first time pulling the NRS out of its case and I bypassed the fact that I've done this several hundred times. I found it easy it to lift out of the case; It was so light, it almost felt as if it was just to light to be true. I was so used to using such heavy guitars that when I pulled my NRS out of the case there was no strain, no grunting, no flinching, it was as light as a feather and that is so pleasing to me especially with my back and shoulder pain I suffer from. I took my guitar and walked over to my chair and pulled out my favorite tortex pick and began to strum. Immediately I said "man", this is true full tone and warm resonance for such a thin guitar!" I began to play and quickly got lost in playing chord after chord picking riffs playing leads and barre chords up and down the neck. I thought, man, this guitar really puts out without even being plugged into an amp! I loved the contour on the neck and the spacing between the strings for finger picking. I clicked my tuner button on the guitar and my blue glow tuner came on and I was able to check my tuning without having to inconvenience the moment by having to plug in a 1/4" cable or latch on a tuner on the headstock, I never left my chair.
I continued to play for the next hour or so. I got a call from my son from the next room to see if we were still going to see the movie I promised him we would see. It was then I realized I got lost playing my favorite guitar and time just flew past me. I was lost in my own creative musical world and I enjoyed every minute of it to the point that the world was just drifting passed me and I didn't even notice how long I played for. I called out to my son that we would leave in a few minutes just let me put my guitar away. As I walked across the room again I noticed again how light and comfortable the guitar was to carry and as I was ready to put the guitar in the case I had to take one more strum. I sighed a sigh of delight and thought, now I get it, now I understand why my customers love this guitar so much. I thought as I closed the case and latched it; If I continue to treat my customers with such personal care and respect and keep building guitars like this I know I will make a lot of people happy. Happy is good. I had a happy Saturday, my son scored two goals out of the 3-0 win, I got to play my favorite guitar for an hour (something I haven't been able to do as much because of all the orders coming in), I relearned why my customers loved the NRS guitar so much and I got to watch a cool movie about planes with my son. So I guess my Saturday was better than good it was great and great is a lot better than good! Peace to you and keep pickin!
